Job Description

A growing engineering group in Baltimore County seeks a qualified Project Accountant

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and process monthly client invoices with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and resolve discrepancies on vendor, subcontractor, and partner invoices in collaboration with internal project leads or managers.
  • Enter, track, and maintain external vendor invoices within the organization's accounting or project management system.
  • Review, troubleshoot, and process employee time and expense submissions.
  • Set up and maintain new projects, contracts, tasks, revisions, and other project-related changes in the accounting or project tracking system.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets to support project billing, financial analysis, and work-in-process tracking.
  • Assist leadership with project financial analysis, reporting, and billing-related inquiries.
  • Support the overall financial health of projects through monitoring, reporting, and coordination with project teams.
  • Serve as backup for timekeeping or payroll-related processes when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with accounting, billing, or project management systems.
  • Experience with payroll or timekeeping processes is beneficial.
  • 5-10 years of accounting or finance experience with a strong focus on invoicing and project billing.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, processes, and general ledger functions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
